A Condrak Lace Departed

This braid has a weird way of taking a loop. It is also one-sided. The warp is departed, i.e. with bicolour loops, and the colour that is on top forms the ridge on the braid.

Because the pattern is one-sided and strange, the braid twists and you have to somehow get the twist off the braid. I tie the braid to a swivel, and clip the swivel onto a cord on my fixed point, but you can also just take an unusually long fastening cord (30-40 cm longer than usual) and the twist moves to the fastening cord off the braid itself.

I'm not even going to try to explain this in writing... Pay attention to the beginning of the movement, the direction of the index finger is unusual. Yes, there's a video that hopefully explains the weird movement.

That's it! Congratulations, if you got this far. For more fingerloop braiding, check out the Links page.
